Our Beliefs

Statement of Faith

Center Grove Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church, which agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message, as revised in 2000. Moreover, we agree to conduct ourselves by the Scriptures in the Holy Bible concerning a New Testament Church.  We commit ourselves to God and one another in Christian love.  May God give us a heart to love, wisdom to discern   His will, strength when we are weak and a vision of evangelism and growth in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Articles of Faith

 A. We believe the Scripture as set forth in both the Old and New Testaments as the revealed, inspired, inerrant, written Word of God, and they reveal the only rule of faith and practice.

B. We believe in the One True God, and that He made Himself known as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

C. We believe in the doctrine of original sin, and that through the fall of Adam, the entire race was made known to sin, The Lord Jesus Christ being excluded.

D. We believe that man is unable to save himself; therefore, all men who could be saved must come to God through the Son, Jesus Christ our Savior.

E. We believe in the security of the believer, and that nothing can separate him from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus, and that we are kept by the power of God unto salvation.

F. We believe that the Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only two Ordinances of the New Testament Church and this regeneration by the Holy Spirit and Word of God are prerequisite to either, and that these were commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ

G. We believe the only way of baptism is as set forth in Scripture, and that is by immersion, as set forth and practiced by our Lord Himself.

H. We believe in the eternal punishment of the wicked in hell, and the eternal joy of the righteous in heaven.

I. We believe in the eternal existence of mankind, and that the saved will have a resurrection of the body unto life everlasting, and those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ will have a resurrection of the body unto eternal and everlasting death.

J. We believe that the local church is a body of baptized believers banded together for the Worship and Praise of God, and that all who have been born again through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ are members of His spiritual body, also known as the church, the body of Christ.

K. We believe that Sunday is the Lord’s Day and is to be set-aside for a day of rest and Worship.  We should revere the Lord’s Day and not engage in any worldly work or amusements. However, work of necessity and mercy are expected.

L. We believe in the right of each member of the church to a voice in its government, plans and discipline.

M. We believe in the independence of each local assembly and there is no head, except the Lord Jesus Christ.

N. We believe according to Scripture, no Woman can hold the place of Bishop, and no Minister is qualified to administer the church Ordinances unless he has been ordained, and is in full fellowship with the church of which he is a Member.
